Seeking some “political support” the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. Zelenskyy took to Twitter to share the course of conversation.
He said, “Spoke with Indian Prime Minister @narendramodi. Informed of the course of Ukraine repulsing Russian aggression. More than 100,000 invaders are on our land. They insidiously fire on residential buildings. Urged India to give us political support in UN Security Council. Stop the aggressor together!”
The PMO informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Wherein, the Ukrainian Prez briefed the PM about the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine. The PM expressed his “deep anguish” about the loss of life and property because of the ongoing conflict.
This comes hours after India abstained during the vote on the US-sponsored draft resolution that condemned Russia’s “aggression” against Ukraine in the “strongest terms”. The resolution was favoured by 11 out of 15 council members but the resolution was not passed in the council as the permanent member – Russia used its veto power. China and UAE were other two members besides India, who abstained from voting in the council.
