Deepika Padukone is working on a biopic on her father Prakash Padukone, ace badminton player ranked world number one in 1980.
In a recent interview, Deepika said that she is working on the project. She also recalled her father’s struggles while putting Indian sports on the global map. She went on to say that Prakash Padukone was one of the first Indian athletes to put India on the global map even before the Indian cricket team won the 1983 World Cup. “Before 83 happened he was one of the first Indian athletes to put India on global map. He won the championship in the year 1981 which was before 1983. He was trained in a marriage hall,” she said.
One of the highest paid actresses in India, Deepika recently produced ’83 featuring her husband Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev.
Acknowledging praise from her fans for the fim Gehraiayaan, Deepika said on Instagram, “The response to Gehraiyaan has been dizzying to say the least! ‘Alisha’ has been my most visceral, indelible and delicious experience as an artist. While I am ecstatic and overwhelmed, I am also truly grateful and humbled!”
Named by Time as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2018, Deepika will be next seen in ‘Pathan’, ‘Fighter’, ‘Project K’ and ‘The Intern’ remake.
