Gujarat film industry’s popular actress Kinjal Rajpriya was once a Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) in a chocolate company in Ahmedabad. Like many others, she had a routine nine to five workday but never felt that it was in sync with her aspirations.
Born to Robin and Deepali Rajpriya–this Amdavadi girl never had any connection in the film industry. An offer for an audition however changed her life. “I remember taking leave for this audition and eventually getting selected. I had to play Simran in a rom-com film–this was prior to Chhelo Divas.” says Kinjal who graduated in science (BSC) from NV Patel College in Vallabh Vidyanagar.
A trained Kathak dancer, she is known for the Gujarati comedy film ‘Chhello Divas’ in 2015. In 2018, the actress acted in the Gujarati comedy-drama cinema ‘Shu Thayu?’. The following year, Kinjal appeared in the science-fiction thriller movie ‘Short Circuit’ along with Dhvanit Thaker. The actress played the lead role of Morani in the family film ‘Kem Chho’ in 2020 alongside Tushar Sadhu.
Kinjal who was honoured in 2019 with the title ‘ Glory of Gujarat’ by the Indian Council of Social Welfare, says. ” I am a bubbly girl-next-door. I don’t like make-up. I hardly put on a bindi and Kohl ( kajal). I wish to be born as a male actor as they can be what they are. On the other hand, women have to make sure that everything is prim and proper. As girls, we have always seen our mothers as always giving and letting go. But we have to speak up when we are not comfortable with something. The world will listen. All we need to do is put forth a clear demand.”
This actress says she would like to adopt a child by 35. “I want to adopt a child or have one of my own. I haven’t found a partner yet. So, I will probably have to adopt a child.”
