The BCCI on Tuesday announced a revised schedule for the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka, beginning February 24, confirming that IND & Sri Lanka will play the Twenty20 series before the Test rubber. Initially, the two-Test series was planned before the T20 matches.
“Lucknow will now host the first T20I, starting from February 24, while IND & Sri Lanka will play the next two in Dharamsala,” BCCI said in a statement.
“The first Test will now be held in Mohali from March 4 to 8th, and the second Test will be played from March 12 to 16th in Bengaluru,” it added.
It was widely reported that the T20s against the Lankan side would take place before Test matches in Mohali and Bengaluru, and the cricket body has now confirmed it.
Virat Kohli is expected to play his 100th Test match in Mohali from March 4-8.
The second Test will be played in Bengaluru from February 12-16 and will be a day-night affair. The Men in Blue have played only two Test matches at home with the pink ball under the lights against Bangladesh (in Kolkata) and England (in Ahmedabad).
Revised schedule:
1st T20I: February 24, Lucknow
2nd T20I: February 26, Dharamsala
3rd T20I: February 27, Dharamsala
1st Test: March 4-8, Mohali
2nd Test (D/N): March 12-16, Bengaluru
