Three youths were arrested on Thursday night following attack on AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi’s vehicle while the Hyderabad MP was on his way back to Delhi after campaigning for upcoming assembly election in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut today evening, the Hapur police station officials informed Vibes of India (Vo!)
The AIMIM leader Owaisi had alleged that around 3-4 people opened fire at his car at toll plaza near Delhi in Hapur in western Uttar Pradesh. The AIMIM leader posted a picture of his car on his Twitter account where two bullet holes can be seen. “One bullet hit the tyre of my vehicle and punctured it. I left the spot in another vehicle immediately. We are all safe. Alhamdu’lilah,” he wrote.
The UP police alerted the Hapur station of the incident following Owaisi’s tweet. The three youths arrested are in their 20s. “Their affiliations are yet to be ascertained,” a Hapur police official told Vo!
“The AIMIM leader will continue the campaigning. Investigation is underway and the identity of the one arrested shooter is yet to be revealed,” Sabir Kabliwala, AIMIM Gujarat President, said.
