A man from Jamnagar, Gujarat, who settled in the USA was supposed to wed his girlfriend on January 20. Two days before the wedding, the families got into a heated argument due to which the wedding was called off.
The man living in the Limdaline area of Jamnagar city fell in love with a city-based girl and were to get married on January 20, with the consent of elders. The wedding was to be held in a hotel at the heart of Jamnagar.
However, during the wedding ceremony, the bride’s family welcomed the groom with one of the Indian traditions of pulling the groom’s nose. At first, the groom’s family resented. But the mother in law managed to convince them stating that she would only touch the nose. Failing to bear this ritual and thinking of it as inappropriate, in no time both the parties started arguing. The argument was heated and the groom had to return as he could not bear the insult of his mother.
Eventually, the bride also ended up refusing to get married.
Gifts were exchanged and both the parties announced separation.
