| Updated: June 20, 2024 10:37

This decision comes a day after teaching job aspirants held a protest in Gandhinagar

The state cabinet, which met on Wednesday, passed a resolution to provide permanent jobs to 7,500 aspirants who have passed the TAT (teacher’s aptitude test),  higher secondary and TAT, secondary.

Speaking to the media in Gandhinagar, the state government spokesperson Rushikesh Patel said, “As many as 7,500 teachers who have passed TAT (higher secondary) and TAT (secondary) examination will be provided permanent jobs in government and grant-in-aid secondary and higher secondary schools in the next three months.”

The government will also initiate the process of appointing teachers who have passed the TET-1 (teacher’s eligibility test) and TET-2, he added.

Candidates who have passed TET examination are eligible to teach students from classes 1 to 8, while those who pass TAT are eligible to teach students from classes 9 to 12.

While 500 candidates will be appointed in government schools, 3,000 candidates will be appointed in grant-in-aid schools at the secondary level (classes 9 and 10). In addition, 750 candidates will be appointed for classes 11 and 12 in government schools, while 3,250 candidates will be appointed for classes 11 and 12 in grant-in-aid schools.

The spokesperson added that in the past 10 years, 18,382 teachers have been provided permanent jobs by the state government.
