After a two-year pandemic pause, MICA, Ahmedabad, held its annual convocation ceremony on Saturday, jointly for the 25th, 26th, and 27th batches of its flagship PGDM-Communications Program. Also felicitated were the 29th, 30th, and 31st batches of its crafting creative communication (CCC) course. At the ceremony, scholars from MICA’s Fellowship Program in Management-Communication (FPM-C) Batches 2015-18 and 2016-19 was also awarded their Fellowships.
Varun Dua, CEO & Founder of India’s recent Unicorn, ACKO Insurance, was the chief guest at the event. Starting his convocation address on a lighter note, he shared: “It feels like yesterday when I was in Shela, having skipped a bath, feasting on cheese Maggi, looking for alcohol in a dry state.”
The white-collar professional further tipped off the future entrepreneurs on “life choices.” He elaborated on the need to wisely assess the risk factors on an individual basis rather than follow the herd mentality of “collective hashtag wisdom.”
Very succinctly he summed up: “Purpose is your GPS, your radar in life. The purpose is internal; it’s what you desire to accomplish. Don’t trade what you want most, for what you want now.” He urged students to pursue their passions in life, but to do so with a sense of purpose. Varun Dua conferred diplomas and also presented the Gold, Silver & Bronze medals to toppers of the PGP 25th, 26th & 27th batch and CCC graduates of the 29th, 30th & 31st batch at the ceremony.
