Gujarat on Wednesday recorded 548 cases in a duration of 24 hours. The jump of 39%, from 394 on Tuesday to 548 on Wednesday, recorded the highest tally in the past 203 days. The Ministry of Health and Welfare revealed that on December 28 Gujarat added 24% of active cases in a day which was the second highest in the nation, whereas Bihar recorded highest of 25% active cases to the national data. Maharashtra had 1052 cases and Gujarat was at 334 contributing 21.6% of the active cases for a day in India.
Gujarat recorded 19 new Omicron cases adding to the toll and shooting it upto 97 in total. Officials show their concerns to this situation and the rate at which cases are rising again in the state. The Case Doubling Rate (CDR) for Gujarat stands at less than two days as it only took two days for the cases to grow 5 times, from 204 to 548, whereas previously it took four days to rise from 111 to 204. The CDR seems to keep decreasing as for the first wave it was 26 days, from 860 to 1,607, for the second way it was 10 days, from 1,122 to 2,276.
The doubling of the cases which is five times faster, as compared to the initial phase of the second wave, is the manifestation of the third wave; says the concerned officials. Analysis data reveals that the state has added 50% of its 1,902 cases in just a time span of three days, the state had 948 active cases on the December 26th.
