Around 500 non-resident Gujaratis (NRGs) hailing from the US, UK, Australia, and a few from Europe, are set to cast their votes on Tuesday.
Most of them have been actively involved in the electoral process. While BJP supporters embarked on a rally from Ahmedabad to Surat, a group of NRG youths campaigned for Congress candidate Paresh Dhanani in Rajkot.
NRGs play a crucial role in raising awareness about Indian issues. They work as influencers for their communities and villages. Across various parties, NRG supporters, both online and offline, highlighted issues and encouraged voter participation.
Connected to politics
A resident of Australia stressed the significance of voting as a right and privilege. He said he has been voting in Lok Sabha elections since 2014. NRGs have always remained connected to the politics of the land, he added.
Around 150 people have flown down from the UK to campaign and vote. A resident of US returned to Ahmedabad with her daughter to participate in the election after missing the past two due to an address change. India is the biggest democracy in the world, and she is proud to be part of the process, she said.
