4-year-old mowed down by car in Gujarat capital Gandhinagar

| Updated: December 11, 2021 13:16

In a tragic incident, a four-year-old toddler, who had come to attend his uncle’s marriage, was mowed down by a car on the housing society’s campus. The boy died while being treated in a private hospital.

The marriage revelry turned into a place of mourning for the Swastik-42 housing society in Gandhinagar.

Father of the toddler, Dhvanil Raval, in his complaint with the Adalaj Police Station, stated that his family members are Canadian citizens. Puja, his wife, and Vivan, their son, were in Gandhinagar for the last one month to attend a marriage. He arrived in India on Sunday. On Sunday, while Vivan was playing in the society complex, the resident of B-602, Jayram Vamja, entered the society in his car and mowed down Vivan. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where he succumbed to injuries and died.

This incident has left the family in shock and police have assigned Police Sub Inspector V B Verma to investigate the accident. CCTV footage shows that though the car was at normal speed, the driver missed the child playing in the premises due to a road turn.

The car driver and residents of the society are booked under the IPC sections for causing death by accident, rash driving and various sections of Motor Vehicles Act.
