A 22-year-old youth from Kanpur was held at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Monday evening for carrying 36 bottles of beer in two boxes without a permit.
The accused, identified as Kartavya Jain, was carrying two boxes of beer, one containing Carlsberg Premier and the other containing Bira-91 Boom Superior Super Strong, when he was intercepted by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel at the security halt area at terminal-2 departure gate.
During a routine check using a random scanner machine, the CISF personnel detected the liquor bottles concealed within the decoration items. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Jain did not possess a valid permit for the transportation or possession of alcohol.
The total value of the seized beer bottles is estimated to be around Rs. 5,880. Jain has been booked under sections 65AA and 116B of the Gujarat Prohibition Act.
