Gujarat: 2 More People Test Omicron Positive In Jamnagar, Tally Rises To 3

Amid the wake of emerging cases of Omicron, two more people who came in contact with the NRI who was tested positive for Omicron, have been tested positive in Jamnagar district of Gujarat on December 10. This has brought the total tally of cases in the state to three.

Gujarat reported its first case of new Covid-19 variant in Jamnagar on December 4 after a person who came from Zimbabwe was found infected with Omicron.

Jamnagar Municipal Commissioner, Vijaykumar Kharadi said that samples of the two persons were sent for testing and tests revealed they both had Omicron. He further said that all three are stable, asymptomatic and are admitted in hospital.

Omicron scare has led many countries to also impose travel ban on southern African countries since the mutation was discovered in South Africa. This new variant has been confirmed in 23 countries and as per the director-general of the World Health Organization, the numbers are only expected to increase.
