A 19-year-old woman who allegedly started facing dowry harassments soon after marriage,
ended her life on February 5 in her rented accommodation in Ambedkar Nagar of Sahnewal.
The woman got married to the accused in December 2020. Her father, from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh,
told the police that he tried to intervene several times in the matter but to no avail.
The husband continued to harass the wife. Fed up from the constant harassments, the victim ended her life when his husband was at work.
After returning from work, the accused found the lifeless body of his wife.
Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Hardeep Singh, the investigating officer, stated that a case under Sections 304-B (dowry death) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused.
