The Bharuch police advanced further in their investigation of the Conversion case at Kankariya village of Amod taluka of Bharuch district with arrest of 4 people.
It is revealed that more than 150 tribals are converted at Kankaria village. The accused in the custody of police have divulged that Maulavis and Muftis (Islamist religious scholars) from Amod, Jambusar, Palej and Nadiad have been paying regular visits to the village during the process of conversion and thereafter for imparting religious teachings to the new converts.
A person by the name of Bilal from Surat was handling the issuance of Aadhar Cards with Muslim name, affidavit and publication in the gazette for the people who got converted. 25 such cases are confirmed so far.
Five young boys who got converted at Kankaria are found from madresa-e-islamia, a madresa at Samrod village. It is possible that there are more children admitted to the madresa for obtaining religious teaching.
A Muslim Cemetry and a prayer hall ( Ibadatgah) are also built at the village Kankariya. Hasan Tisli and Aziz paid Rs. 4.5 lacs and Rs.12 -14 lacs respectively for the cause.
