A 11-year-old boy was brutally attacked by a pack of stray dogs while on his way to school this morning. The child sustained serious injuries all over his body, including both legs, one hand, and his face and head.
The attack, involving 10-15 dogs, occurred in the Umergam area of the city. Following the incident, the boy was immediately rushed to a private hospital for primary treatment. He was later transferred to the government-run New Civil Hospital on Majura Gate for further care.
An eyewitness who intervened to save the boy recounted the chilling scene to the media. He was alerted to the attack by his wife who heard cries for help. Upon rushing outside, he found the boy being mauled by over 10 dogs. He managed to chase the dogs away with a stick, but not before they had inflicted severe injuries to the boy’s head. He expressed his belief that any further delay could have resulted in the boy’s death.
Locals claim that the lane is home to around 20-25 stray dogs, attracted by the presence of non-vegetarian food carts.
