The Jammu & Kashmir Police on Thursday arrested 11 tourists from Gujarat and a local guide with fake and edited Gondola tickets at the famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Quoting an official, news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the tourists from Gujarat, along with a guide, had arrived to board Gondola from Kongdori to Gulmarg when they were caught with fake tickets.
The official said they had reached Kongdori on ponies and had come to undertake return journey on fake and edited tickets. “To avoid inconvenience to tourists they were brought to Gulmarg through Gondola for investigation. Our officers Showkat Ahmad Bhat (in-charge Project) and Pervaiz Ahmad Qureshi (in-charge ticketing) completed the formalities and the case was accordingly handed over to in-charge SHO Gulmarg Shakeel Ahmad Beigh,” he said.
He added that SHO initiated the investigation in the matter and arrested the accused. The management of Gulmarg Gondola requested the general public and tourists in particular not to fall prey to touts who provide them with fake tickets.
